Can I get passport photos taken at USPS?

Yes, you can have your passport photos taken at USPS. What is more, you can choose from one of two passport photo services:

1. You can have your passport photos taken at any of the postal offices. The staff will offer you a professional photo shoot, editing, and printing 2 (two) U.S. passport photos for $15.
2. You can print your passport photos at the post office, but only if you have them in a digital, ready-for-printing version (more about that later on).

Take your passport photos at the post office

You can have your passport photos taken at the United States Postal Service. A photographer will take the new passport photo, edit it according to the U.S. passport photo standards, and print the photograph in the required size. 

With the technical aspects of a passport photo covered by the USPS staff, you only need to make sure to dress appropriately, and that is – casually. 

Although most of the time you don’t have to make an appointment for a passport photo shoot, it’s better to check the availability by calling your desired location beforehand. Ensure that your local post office offers passport photo services (though the vast majority do). 

Print your passport photos at the post office

If you have a digital copy of your new passport photos, you can ask the post office employees to print that photo for you. 

The standard U.S. passport photo size is 2 x 2 inches, but you can print your photographs on a different printing template (e.g. 4 x 6 inches) and cut out the pictures individually. You don’t need an appointment at the Postal Service for printing digital passport photos.

You can also take passport photos of your child at the post office. 

If you have a newborn baby, it is recommended to take a white-colored blanket for your child’s comfort—it will work as the background for the passport picture. However, each USPS office should have extra fabrics or other materials that could be adjusted as background as well. 

If you are coming with an older child that can already walk, the post office staff should be able to quickly snap a passport picture without any additional effort from your side.
